Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch Bundt pan.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition.
In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Add this mixture to the creamed mixture alternately with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix well after each addition.
Stir in the vanilla extract.
Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 70 to 75 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
